Resilience Corner

Honouring the Hands That Feed the World 🌾

Thank You 🎉

Have you ever stopped to wonder where your meals come from?🤔

This Harvest Month, we pay tribute to the incredible resilience and dedication of farmers across the globe who work tirelessly to ensure our tables are never empty. Their unwavering spirit and commitment to feeding the world is nothing short of remarkable.

Farmers contribute significantly to global food production. As per FAO Agricultural Production Statistics, in 2022, the global production of primary crop commodities reached 9.6 billion tonnes, a 56% increase since 2000. This includes 1.9 billion tonnes of sugarcane and 2.1 billion tonnes of fruits and vegetables. Additionally, as per USDA Agricultural Production Report, the global agricultural sector has seen a nearly four fold increase in output from 1961 to 2020.

As citizens of the world, there are several ways we can support these unsung heroes:

🌱Buy Local, Buy Fresh: By purchasing locally grown produce, we not only support our community's farmers but also reduce the carbon footprint associated with transporting goods. Farmers' markets and farm stands are excellent places to find fresh, seasonal produce.
💁Advocate for Fair Policies: Engage in conversations about agricultural policies and support initiatives that promote fair trade and sustainable farming practices. Your voice can make a significant difference in shaping policies that benefit farmers.
Reduce Food Waste: A staggering amount of food is wasted every day. By being mindful of our consumption and reducing waste, we can show respect for the hard work farmers put into growing our food. Simple actions like meal planning and proper storage can go a long way.

Every meal we enjoy is a testament to the dedication and hard work of farmers. Let’s celebrate Harvest Month by acknowledging their immense contributions and taking steps to support them. Together, we can build a more sustainable and appreciative food system.👏

Let’s raise our forks in gratitude and take action to support the hands that feed the world.🌱

Beetroot Kanji Recipe

In today’s world, our bodies are constantly exposed to toxins—be it from processed food, polluted air, or chemical-laden products. What should we do to improve our health?👋

In this edition, we are including Beetroot Kanji recipe for you to give a try. It is not only delicious but has lots of health benefits. It is a nutrient-rich drink that supports heart health, boosts energy, and enhances overall vitality due to beetroot's nitrates, vitamins, and antioxidants. Its fermentation process creates probiotics that improve gut health, aid digestion, and strengthen immunity. Additionally, it promotes detoxification and glowing skin, making it a delicious and natural health booster. Give it a try!💪

🥤Ingredients:

  •  2 medium-sized beetroots (finely chopped)
  •  1 tablespoon mustard seeds (crushed)
  •  1/4 teaspoon white salt (table salt)
  •  1/4 teaspoon black salt
  •  1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  •  1 liter water
  •  Optional: 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for extra tanginess)

🍜Instructions:

  1.  Prepare the Beetroot: Wash, peel, and finely chop the beetroots. The finer the chop, the quicker the fermentation process.
  2.  Crush the Mustard Seeds: Crush the mustard seeds using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder. This helps release the flavor and makes them more potent in the drink.
  3.  Mix the Ingredients: In a large jar or bowl, combine the finely chopped beetroot, crushed mustard seeds, white salt, black salt, cayenne pepper, and water. If you want extra tanginess, you can add lemon juice at this stage. Stir everything well to make sure the spices and salt are evenly distributed.
  4.  Fermentation: Cover the jar with a clean cloth or lid and place it in a warm spot, like a windowsill, for 2-3 days to ferment. Stir the mixture once or twice daily. As the fermentation progresses, the beetroot pieces and mustard seeds will float to the top. The drink will begin to develop a tangy, slightly spicy flavor.
  5.  Taste and Final Adjustments: After 2-3 days, taste the Kanji. If you prefer a more tangy flavor, you can let it ferment for another day or two. Once the taste is to your liking, strain out the beetroot pieces and mustard seeds.
  6.  Serve: Chill the Beetroot Kanji in the fridge before serving. You can garnish with fresh coriander if desired.

😉Notes:

  •  If you want a spicier Kanji, feel free to increase the amount of cayenne pepper.
  •  The fermentation time depends on the ambient temperature; warmer spots will ferment the Kanji faster.
  •  This drink can be stored in the fridge for a few more days after it has fermented.

Why the quest for perfection is leaving us all feeling exhausted?

Beyond the Juggle & Balance: Crafting a Life of Harmony, Not Hustle Have you ever found yourself sitting in front of your computer, trying to finish one last email, while your mind is already racing through the dinner plan, the unopened school notice, and that promise you made to call your parents? It feels like you’re a juggler, desperately trying to keep all the balls in the air, terrified that if just one drops, the whole act will come crashing down.  Let's step off that stage, put the juggling balls down, and talk about what true balance really looks like. It’s not about a flawless performance; it's about creating a life that feels harmonious, sustainable, and authentically yours. What is True Balance, Really? For years, we’ve been sold a picture of work-life balance that looks like a perfectly symmetrical scale, with "work" on one side and "life" on the other, each getting an equal, measured share. But our lives are not that simple or static. Let’s ...
